My Experience with the Audiobook Revolution
By Donna Fletcher Crow ~ February 5, 2024
For many years I have been asked frequently, “Are your books available in audio?” My answer was sketchy, I have had several titles recorded for the blind—which pleases me greatly—and in 2013 my publisher produced audiobooks of what were then the first two titles in my Elizabeth and Richard series. That was it.
Until a few months ago when Amazon began offering voice-generated audiobooks. Being a low-tech, slow-adapter, I hesitated. But in January I took the plunge with Going There, Tales from the Riviera and Beyond. I was amazed. Truly three clicks did the job. I selected a lovely British female voice, set the price near the minimum allowed, and clicked publish. I now have 23 audiobooks (about half of my published titles) available for readers who want the listening experience.
History of “Talking Books”
In spite of coming late to the party with my own titles, my husband and I have long enjoyed listening to books when we travel. And I discovered that the history of “talking books” goes back much further than one might guess. The first were short recordings on a cylinder made in the late nineteenth century. In 1932 The American Foundation for the Blind offered the first audiobooks on gramophone records. The invention of cassette tapes in 1962 made the later popularity of books on tape possible. Libraries began offering them to their patrons and some bookstores offered clubs which allowed members to check out recorded books for a fee. We had such a membership in the 1990s. Later, one of my regular tasks before setting out on a road trip was to scour library shelves for cassette tapes, and then CDs, of books for our journey.
The revolution began in 1997 when a company named Audible produced a portable media player. Amazon purchased Audible in 2008 and in April of that year they released 25 titles. Current statistics are impossible to find, especially because new titles are added every day, but they must be nearing the million mark—if they haven’t surpassed it already.
Donna Fletcher Crow Audible Titles
My one frustration with the Amazon Audible system is that not all titles are eligible, but I am delighted to be able to offer readers at least some titles from each of my series. For easy reference, here is the complete listing:

I love to read, both from paper books and electronic devices, but hearing a story is a different experience altogether. When reading a text, we interpret the story we see on the written page. When hearing a story there is nothing physical between us and the event. Hearing a story is more like overhearing an actual conversation. Hearing isn’t necessarily a better experience, it’s a different experience.
So, the next time you want to relax and let someone else do the reading for you—just give a listen.

My name is Darlene M, and I never imagined my life could change so fast. I was struggling with some unpaid bills and financial stress for years, and I was constantly wondering how people are able to win the lottery so big because I sometimes play the lottery but never won any big amount, I sought spiritual guidance from Chief Ade after I heard about him, how he has been helping people with the lottery winning numbers, and not long afterwards I won the $16,000,000 MILLION Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball jackpot with the numbers he gave me. That incredible win completely transformed my life. I was able to pay off all my debts, purchase a brand-new truck, and make sure my children had everything they needed to pursue their dreams. I also chose to share my good fortune by supporting local charities and helping families in need, because I know what it's like to struggle. I'm sharing this to remind whosoever seeing this that hope can inspire people to keep believing, even during difficult times. Email : chiefadespellhome@gmail.com || Whats App +234 901 380 6328

AI has caused me more problems than it has solved. I was connected to a cryptocurrency trader through AI and lost my hard-earned money to a scam. If it weren't for the assistance of Lord Meduza, whom my sister-in-law recommended to me, I wouldn’t have been able to win the $435 MILLION Mega Millions Lottery. My life could have taken a drastic turn due to the overwhelming bills I faced after being cheated by the crypto traders. Lord Meduza utilized his extraordinary spell powers to determine the perfect six numbers I needed to win the Mega Millions Lottery, and I followed his instructions to play those numbers. I am incredibly thankful for the support, love, and kindness he has shown, which is beyond measure. I was able to reclaim my lost Bitcoin assets worth of $480,99 which i had lost to the sc$m company known as Capitalix fx a sc%$m company pretending to be an investment platform which alot of people including myself have lost their funds to, sadly not all would be fortunate enough to retrieve back their funds like I did but if you’re reading this today then you're already a step closer towards regaining your lost digital assets, Cybertechie successfully retrieved back my funds in less than 48hours after I sought for their help to get back my funds. This experience has taught me the importance of carrying out my due diligence before embracing any financial opportunity presented to me and while risk taking may be a part of the journey, some risks are not worth taking and never again will I involve myself with any online financial investment. It's only right that we seek for external intervention and support of a higher knowledge system when it comes to digital assets recovery, Get in contact today with the team to get started on Email: cybertechie813 @ gmail. com or what'sapp +358 44- 9349-429

I want to write this testimony regarding The Great Odunga who made me win $1 million Dollars in the 2024 lottery on Aug. 5. My name is Lynne Kannuan and I am from Laos, Iowa, USA. I won this Powerball lottery in Webster City, US and I am not much of a lottery player because I don't check my lottery ticket until about a week or two and Chief Dr. Odunga changed my life both for family and friends. I will put his email first for those who comprehend my write up to contact Great Odunga to win the lottery at his email odungaspelltemple@gmail.com for he is a real spell caster. I won the lottery of $1 million USD and to the press my comment was "Not too much, Not too little, just right". I contacted Great Odunga through my friend who first contacted him to help her get her fertility issues solved and she is now a mother of twins boys for over 2 years but truth be told, I never believed the lottery can be won through spells until now. She told me to contact Great Odunga to help me win the lottery through spells and I did. To my surprise a week later, I had won the Powerball of $1,000,000 USD. The winning numbers in the Aug. 5 Powerball drawings were: 29-42-44-51-54 and Powerball 12. It's a great achievement to me and I must post this testimony to recommend the Great Odunga to everyone who reads my write up. It was my friend who called me to check my ticket to realize I had won the Powerball Lottery. I am grateful to God to be a recent lottery winner with my name on the Powerball blog. You should contact Chief Dr. Odunga Email: odungaspelltemple@gmail.com OR and also Whats-App message him on +2348167159012
