Have You Heard About the Crime Cafe?

By Donna Fletcher Crow ~ November 30, 2015

My guest today is the amazing Debbi Mack. I have known Debbi for several years and am a great fan of her Sam McRae mysteries. I was hooked on the first one because, as a lawyer's wife, I appreciated how careful Sam is to stay within the lines of the ethics of her profession while solving crimes in a creative way.

Then Debbi invited me to be a guest on The Crime Cafe (interview here)  and to contribute to her Season One Story Package. This is a real bargain because along with stories from all the great writers Debbi interviews this year you'll get A Very Private Grave, book 1 in my Monastery Murders. I found the Crime Cafe project  to be so much fun that I asked Debbie to come over to "Deeds of Darkness; Deeds of Light" and tell us more about it all.

Thanks, Donna, for the opportunity to post on your blog!

It all started when I established a YouTube account. I did so without any real plan as to how I would use it. Over time, its evolved into a multi-media platform thats allowed me to express my thoughts, feelings, and creative projects in something other than written words. Ive also learned to tell stories in a more visual way.

I had vague notions about doing a podcast, but I wasnt sure what kind of podcast I should do. In fact, before I developed the Crime Cafe, Id never even listened to a podcast. I knew they were popular, but that was all.

Then, during the time my website was being redesigned, I got the idea of interviewing crime, suspense, and thriller writers on a podcast. I ran this past the web designer, and she thought it was great.

She also suggested that each author interviewed should provide a guest post with a giveaway before their podcast. In addition, she suggested having each author contribute a story to a collection that Id sell from a designated site, with the proceeds split among the contributors. This seemed like a win-win approach to me.

So now I offer, not only all the interviews in video and audio form from my website, but you can also buy the Crime Cafe, Season One Story Package there. I also offer merchandise, such as coffee cups, T-shirts, and tote bags, featuring the distinctive Crime Cafe logo. You can find the Crime Cafe on iTunes, SoundCloud, and Google Play.

I hope youll tune in to The Crime Cafe sometime soon. Its a fun way to spend 20 minutes or so. And youll hear the real lowdown from some of the crime genres best authors.
