Just Released: A NEWLY CRIMSONED RELIQUARY

Few things can make a usually rational person want to run through the streets shouting or grab perfect strangers and tell them your news like the release of a new book. And that's exactly how I'm feeling at the moment— that breathless bubble in my throat that makes me want to jump up and down and, yes, run through the streets shouting.

A Newly Crimsoned Reliquary, book 4 in my Monastery Murders series, has just seen the light of day. Okay, it's only the ebook so far, but print will follow soon and I am thrilled to be able to offer this newest installment in Felicity and Father Antony's adventures to my readers:

"Now don't get into mischief." Antony Kissed Felicity on her forehead, then, on second thought, lingered a moment on her lips.

She broke away with a chuckle. "Me? I'm spending a few days in a convent, then joining your seminar. What could possibly be less mischief-making?"

Antony's forehead furrowed as he raised his eyebrows. "I can't imagine. But it seems you always manage to find a way."

As you might guess, in spite of Antony's warning her not to get into trouble when she sets off to do a spot of translating in an Oxford convent, Felicity just can't seem to avoid danger. But it's hardly Felicity's fault that severed body parts start showing up in ancient holy reliquaries. Or that Felicity and one of the nuns is assaulted. Could the Medieval Latin document Felicity is translating for the sisters have anything to do with the repeated attacks?

When Antony arrives in Oxford with a group of students he is cool to the news that Felicity has forged an uneasy friendship with his sister Gwen, whom he hasn't seen for years. And any family reconciliation is further complicated by Antony's obligation to rush to the bedside of his dying uncle in Blackpool.

The exultation of All Saints' Day plunges to the anguish of grief on All Souls' when Felicity encounters yet another body. Who will be the next victim of the murderer stalking the shadows of Oxford's hallowed shrines?

Besides the fun of developing Felicity and Antony's blossoming relationship and the chills of trying to outwit a particularly devious murderer, I had the joy of sharing Oxford's atmospheric setting and rich traditions with my readers, and telling the stories of some of my favorite saints and martyrs: St. Frideswide, Thomas Cranmer and The Oxford Martyrs, and John Wesley's Holy Club. On top of that I got to study English bell ringing with the Oxford University Society of Change Ringers.

What writer could ask for more? Truly something to run through the streets shouting about, I think.
