Rising Star Coming to Boise, Meet Jenny Milchman at Rediscovered Books

By Donna Fletcher Crow ~ July 23, 2013

Readers in the Boise Valley area have an exciting opportunity to meet one of the most talked-about and beloved new writers to come along in many a year. Jenny Milchman, author of the stunning debut novel COVER OF SNOW will be at Rediscovered Books, 180 N 8th St. In downtown Boise at 11 o’clock Saturday morning July 27.

Jenny’s event will be a unique opportunity for readers and writers alike as she will be talking about life on the road— little ones included, work/life balance (and why writers don't have any), and also sticking to a dream when it comes to publishing, which can both break our hopes...and make them come true. To read more about the event: http://ning.it/18xAc1I

These are all subjects Jenny is intimately acquainted with, especially traveling with children and car-schooling, as she calls it. You can read more about the Milchman family’s amazing tour and see the map of their route here http://www.jennymilchman.com/tour/

Long before she became a published author Jenny Milchman was the darling of the mystery writers’ community. While waiting an agonizing 11 years for the publication of her first novel COVER OF SNOW Jenny spent her time promoting other writers on her popular blog "Suspense Your Disbelief" inviting us to tell the story of our "Made It Moments"— the moment Jenny was dreaming of for herself. ( http://ning.it/1bcQQZ6 )

And now Jenny truly has her well-deserved moment. The remarkable debut of COVER OF SNOW, a gripping tale of suspense, was greeted with accolades by The New York Times, Booklist and Kirkus Reviews— making it a Grand Slam in the publishing world.

The New York Times said, "Milchman reveals an intimate knowledge of the psychology of grief, along with a painterly gift for converting frozen feelings into scenes of a forbidding winter landscape."

I would love to be able to end this by saying, "I’ll see you at Jenny’s event." Unfortunately, after years of hoping to meet Jenny, who lives in New Jersey, in person I’ll be at a family reunion when she’s in Boise. So I’m hoping that all my friends will turn out to give Jenny a true Idaho welcome.

Oh, Donna, this post both brings tears to my eyes, and makes me go, "WHO is that writer she's talking about?" After thirteen years, it still doesn't feel real. But you have been there, making me feel as if it might really happen, long before it did.

I am so sorry we won't see each other in Boise. But I know that connection too will come true one of these days!
