Idaho Book Extravaganze; An Extravagant Weekend

By Donna Fletcher Crow ~ October 29, 2011

The second annual Idaho Book Extravaganza was officially a huge success. Participation trebled that of last year— and projections are that it will triple again next year. Boise’s Convention Center on the Grove was a perfect setting, especially with the autumn foliage on the trees filling the courtyard outside.

Although the official opening was earlier in the day, for me the event began Friday evening, with the awards ceremony for Idaho’s Top 50 Authors. I was thrilled to be one of the award recipients along with so many of my friends.

The Author Mixer followed. I shared a table with my sister writer Kelly Jones whose latest art history mystery THE WOMAN WHO HEARD COLOR was released earlier this month. I enjoyed meeting friends and readers old and new and signing my Monastery Murders A VERY PRIVATE GRAVE and A DARKLY HIDDEN TRUTH (not yet officially available in North America until January), and my epics GLASTONBURY and THE FIELDS OF BANNOCKBURN.

I was also delighted to be able to tell readers that GLASTONBURY is now available in all ereader formats: Http://vyrso.com/product/14435/glastonbury-the-novel-of-christian-england

I can’t imagine turning an 800+ page book that was never in electronic format into an ebook. Thank you Crossway Books!

Today I spent time on the trade show floor in StoneHouse Ink’s booth, with Aaron Patterson, promoting the series they publish for me: The Elizabeth & Richard Mysteries: Romantic Suspense in a Literary Setting

The Shadow of Reality

The setting—high in the Rockies, with Dorothy L. Sayers’ characters—was all her fantasies come true: an elegant English manor house in the 1930s. The man was even more than she had dreamed: Sir Gavin Kendall—sophisticated, brilliant, rich—and captivated by her. Until murder intervened.

Will Elizabeth's lifelong dreams become reality or will she fall prey to the vicious murderer lurking in the shadows at an exotic mystery weekend high in the Rockies? Will Elizabeth discover the narrow line between fantasy and reality in time to achieve her dreams?

 A Midsummer Eve's Nightmare

Elizabeth and Richard want nothing more than a quiet, romantic honeymoon—with a touch of literary charm. So they have chosen the Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, Oregon.

Perfection—until they find that Desdemona’s brilliantly acted death scene wasn’t acted, and Elizabeth’s costume-designer sister and her actress roommate are terrified that they are slated to be the next victims.

And then StoneHouse Ink took their writers and production team out to dinner. The food and fellowship were great.

As Vincent Zandri and Bri Clark will attest.

The young writers had their own table.

But not that young.

I love it when my publisher takes me out to eat. It makes me feel like a Big Name Author!
