An English Spring and Lenten Reading

Lent 2019
As this goes out I will be in England. Last month I mentioned I would be speaking at MysteryFest in Portsmouth. From there I will spend a week at the seashore all along the south coast of England, visiting Jane Austen’s favorite holiday spots as research for my next Elizabeth and Richard literary suspense. And then, up to Manchester to visit our daughter and her family.
Which is why my garden pictures are ones our son-in-law recently sent of the perfect English spring they are enjoying. Fingers crossed that it holds—last year we were there during the dreaded “Beast from the East.”
My book special this month, in keeping with the Lenten season, is A Very Private Grave which opens on Ash Wednesday and continues through the penitential season. As part of your Lenten journey, I invite you to join Felicity Howard, a young American studying in a remote monastery in England. Felicity is devastated when she finds her beloved Fr. Dominic bludgeoned to death and Fr. Antony, her church history lecturer, soaked in his blood.

Antony flee a murderer and follow clues across a sacred landscape. The narrative mixes intellectual puzzles, spiritual aspiration, romance and the solving of riddles ancient and modern. Ancient buried treasure, a brutal murder and lurking danger—an itinerary of terror across a holy terrain.
